Well, it's been a very busy month. In case you didn't know, I've been very busy adding extra stuff to my Club Penguin website. Anyways, I intend to give all the Obsidian Miners out there more content as I have been VERY lacked on content over January.
Well, Mojang released a new snapshot, 12w04a. This includes a new mob (Ocelot), which are tameable with raw fish. You can breed ocelots as well. Just feed raw fish to 2 ocelots and they shall make a Babby Ocelot. When wild, they look like leopards, but when tamed they look like a pet cat. Also, Jungle Tree Saplings have been added. Place them in a 2x2 square and it will grow into a Big Jungle Tree. Skeletons now have new AI, so when they set on fire in daylight, they will run under any nearby trees to shade themselves. They added a new item to the game called Fire Charge, and is a fireball when dispensed. Dispensers have also been reskinned. You can get the snapshot by clicking here!

First off, I know you guys LOVE the PvPZone server I found. I want you guys to know A LOT more about it, so I want to set it up as a whole series. What do you guys think? It can get a little boring, JUST playing Capture the Flag, but they have added a Builder World (donators+ are the only ones who can build) and they are waiting for the Spell Plugin to become compatible with Multi-Worlds so they can add a survival world.
Also, I will be doing more server reviews, in servers such as SuperFunTime, Super-Earth and JusticeCraft!
I know I have been focusing on multiplayer servers a lot, but the singleplayer aspect will be coming soon, One of my favorite YouTube series of all time is ChimneySwift11's Minecraft Files, so if you guys want a building series, I will most definitely take inspiration.

Weekly Snapshot 12w01a, What's To Come and Coming Soon...

- All new language translations
- Slightly smoothed colour transitions
- Reduced brewing time to 20 seconds
- Reduced the randomness of the Enchantment Table
- Changed colour of the mob-spawning eggs to represent the mob they spawn more
- Added world-type options (either normal or super-flat)
- Made biomes slightly more varied (hills added in forests, beaches added)
- Removed the collision box from ladders
- Updated the fence gate collision box to align with fences

So, what is to come this month for Minecraft? Well, Mojang have announced that the next version of Minecraft will be released this month. The Mojang team have also announced that the mod API is being worked on! They quoted:
We are currently still preparing work for the mod API. The API is going to take some time to implement properly, so we ask for patience :) Also, Jon is currently working on improving the AI for mobs to make it easier for us to add new behaviors. The first goal is to add breeding support to wolves, and then move on to more useful / interesting villagers.
So, it looks like Mojang have a lot of things planned this month! So, you may be thinking why I did this post? Well, to catch up with what I have to cover, and also to announce a new map I am going to be creating.
It will be a puzzle map, with a hint of parkour, but it will be mainly aimed around puzzle with quite a bit of redstone used. I have not yet started to make it, but I have thought of the storyline. This is all I can reveal, but I will be posting screenshots on here and also making a post of the full version on the Forums. The storyline is the basic 'facility' story, except the bad man is called Bob (:O), and he is your lifetime arch-enemy.

PvPZone Mini-Guide!
Hi minecraftians!
You may remember my 2nd video being about PvPZone Player vs Player server! Well, here is a mini-guide on how it works!
When you log on to the server, you will start out in a room with glowstone and glass flooring. There should be some obsidian portal-like frames in the room as well. There is a sign next to them. These are lively updated to how many people are on what course (Note: after a game has finished, it may get a little lagged). To enter a warzone, go through an obsidian portal and go through the coloured gate. The coloured gates arrange you randomly into one of the color-coded teams. You will be wearing your team colour's wool on your head. Now you can change your class! Here are the different classes:
Fighter - Iron Sword, Stone Pickaxe, 3x Cooked Porkchop (Armor: Gold Leggings, Gold Boots)
Tank - Stone Sword, Wooden Pickaxe, 3x Golden Apples, 15x Pumpkin Seeds (Armor: Diamond Chestplate, Gold Leggings)
Elemental - Clay Ball, Gold Sword, Cake, Water Bucket, Pumpkin (Armor: None)
Warlock - Iron Bars, Wooden Hoe, Leaves, Book, Shears, Brick, Seeds (Armor: None)
Builder - Diamond Pickaxe, 4s 64x Stone Bricks, Diamond Shovel, 64x Redstone (too many items to continue) (Armor: Iron Chestplate)

Also, in Spleef, you do not have the classes, you have the Spleef class, in which you get 5 pieces of white wool to repair your area if it get fully destroyed.
If you win a game you will receive two items: one gold bar (or two depending if the course has been played a lot of times or not) and diamonds. You can sell diamonds for money, each diamond is worth 0.25. You can use money to buy spell upgrades (which will be in another post).
That is just about it! So get on down and start Capturing the Flag!

ObsidianMiners YouTube Update!

Mario here with more updates for ObsidianMiners!
Me, Crazy and Kalo are still getting videos ready, but I still haven't had chance to discuss Mod Spotlight yet! Please be pacient while we get this across, but in the meantime, I will be uploading a lot of content!

A new playlist will be added, called 'Custom Map Madness'! Yes, the name is self-explanatory. Me, Crazy and Kalo will be playing custom maps that people have created! Here's how you could get yours on YouTube!
1. Make it challenging yet not extremely hard!
2. My favorite type of maps are Adventure and Puzzle! (don't know about the others)
3. Make a forum post with your map download there!
If we haven't commented on your custom map, than comment on THIS POST with the forum link. Also, if I have played your map, I will comment on the forum post again with a Diamond Rating. Here's what each one means:
1 diamond: Not really good in any way at all. There was a slightly good point, but please, you need to improve mega-epic style.
2 diamonds: Not really good. It began to get better near the middle, but then the quality dropped again. Needs improving for definite.
3 diamonds: Bad. The beginning made it sound awesome, but there wasn't a very catchy story. A lot of improving is needed.
4 diamonds: It's ok. Your map has potential, but very VERY little. It was a bumpy car journey of good and bad bits.
5 diamonds: It's definitely decent. There are a lot of bugs and a few things that could be tweaked. Little potential, but if the problems get fixed, than it is promising.
6 diamonds: This is more than decent. This map was pretty good! It had that ZING! of excitement, but needs the element of difficulty balancing out.
7 diamonds: Good! I enjoyed playing this map, it was quite fun. A promising storyline made this a rather great map. Still needs some tweaking though...
8 diamonds: Great! Almost fantastic, but still some little bugs and ways to cheat that make this map less fun then it should be.
9 diamonds: Fantastic! Only one or two things that are still wrong with this map, but it is a very well thought-out map!
10 diamonds: Unbelievable!!! Just, impeccable! No bugs, fun map, fluent storyline, what else does a map need? Not much! You are worth the diamonds!
BONUSES!!!
1 chest: There were some good hidden secrets in the map!
1 flint & steel: Evidently over 72 hours of work to build this map, and the redstone provided is fantastic!

Mod Spotlight and Server Spotlight RETURNS!

Mario plays Minecraft
Mariobros980 will play a single-player survival server. In the first episode, he will build a house and get prepared, but then it's down to YOU. Whether you play Minecraft or not, you can tell Mario what you want to see built. If your idea is chosen, you will see him build it next episode!
Server Spotlight
The name says it all! All three of us will go on a server together and, if we like it, we will make an around-10-minute video about it. So, make sure you give your server some great stuff, because we might be coming to it!
Mod Spotlight
Technically, a spotlight for mods. There is one mod that I [Mariobros980] will always have in my vids, called TooManyItems. This is a mod that allows you to spawn in items if you have collected them once (I will NOT be spawning in items on Mario plays Minecraft).
Server Xperience
Again, about servers, but if we enjoy a server THAT MUCH, we will actually give you some of our experience on the server. A bit like Server Spotlight, but a bit more!

Nightplace Survival: Faction Info!

Following in from the Nightplace review, here's some info about the factions me and Crazy have set up. We have already made ourselves enemies, so we can battle versus each other. Here's the info of the servers (this will be updated LIVE!). Color code: blue is admin, red is mod and black is member of faction.

Server Spotlight #1: Nightplace Survival!

I have chosen the first server to be in the Server Spotlight! It is called the Nightplace Survival Server, and it is probably one of the best servers I've tried! Here's some information about it!

And believe me or not, there are too many parts of the world to describe. Crazydude676 has bought Minecraft as well, and is currently playing on this server too! He thinks the same, and we both have factions that are enemies (mine is called DarkVenom, Crazy's is Viper). Yes, they have snake-like names, but we like them all the same as I'm sure you do!
This server uses the MyPortal plugin (I think it's called that) which allows users to teleport to different areas (there is 3 builds, 1 nonbuild, a mine and much more!). I will explain the factions in another post, so don't be too worried if you want to join. There are dozens more plugins, but one of the main ones is called ChestShop. This is where you stock stuff in a chest, then place a sign with buy/sell prices on. They also uses the SignLock plugin, in which you can lock chests by placing a sign like this:

I have made this the main server I will be going on for a while. I used to go on it about a week ago, but a faction destroyed our homeland, so I quit for a while. The server was formed in 2010, and has been advertising a lot on PlanetMinecraft.
This is really as much as I can say, the rest is for you to find out! An action-packed server with dozens of plugins, factions...oops, forgot to mention the staff! They are really kind and will answer questions (only ask once, they will have seen it unless they were AFK or offline).
Overall Rating
Exciting: 9/10
Plugins: 8/10
Staff: 9/10
Spawn: 9/10
OVERALL AVERAGE: 8.5/10
I would've given it a 10/10, but other people don't like it as much as me and Crazy, and because there's also room for improvement. Anyways, have you tried the server? Let us know in the comments!

I will explain the factions in another post, so don't be too worried if you want to join. There are dozens more plugins, but one of the main ones is called ChestShop. This is where you stock stuff in a chest, then place a sign with buy/sell prices on. They also uses the SignLock plugin, in which you can lock chests by placing a sign like this:

(player name 3)
I have made this the main server I will be going on for a while. I used to go on it about a week ago, but a faction destroyed our homeland, so I quit for a while. The server was formed in 2010, and has been advertising a lot on PlanetMinecraft.
This is really as much as I can say, the rest is for you to find out! An action-packed server with dozens of plugins, factions...oops, forgot to mention the staff! They are really kind and will answer questions (only ask once, they will have seen it unless they were AFK or offline).
