Mario here with a quick update for mine, Crazy and Kalo's YouTube channel, ObsidianMiners!


So, two things: the first thing is my friend Hullcity24 will (hopefully) be getting Minecraft soon, so he might be helping out with some of the videos I make. So... YAY! :D


And then second, Vechs released Super Hostile #14: Waking Up! Tomorrow, 1.3 is released (which is what you need to play the map), and I will be doing a LP of the map! I have only looked at the spoiler pics Vechs posted, but I have no idea what to expect apart from that.

Server Spotlight: Minecraft DOTA!

Hi guys!

Mario here with another server spotlight! I might do these on a weekly basis, depending on what servers I find!

This is Minecraft: DOTA! Many of you may have heard of it before, so I am showing you it now. This is a map/plugin. The map was created by Zealock, and the plugin made by Scyntrus. These were inspired by Dawn of the Ancients, DOTA 2 and League of Legends, and are very fun to play. Here's some of the features of the game!

There are rapid spawners so that every 20 seconds or so (approx), zombies will spawn if players are nearby (Note: this happens more during the end of the game than at the beginning).

You have 5 towers (scroll down for a map of your base): 2 on the left, 2 on the right and 1 down the centre. You have to protect these towers whilst taking out the other team's towers. To take down a tower, you will need 2 people, and 3 people for the centre tower.

Normal Tower: Get one person to stand on the pressure plate, you will be poisoned, but it will not kill you. You must stay on the pressure plate! Then, the other guy steps back as pistons are brought down. The other person must shoot the minecarts inside of the pistons in order to destroy a tower

Centre Tower: Same process, except you need 2 people to stand on each pressure plate.

Congratulations! Each of your towers has it's own Poison Protection against the other team! Simply hit the button on the side of your tower, and several Posion II potions will hit anyone nearby. The poison is deadly, and can bring you down to 1/2 a heart!

There is a shop system, where you can buy better stuff. By killing zombies and skeletons, you collect items to spend as money. There is a potion store, where you buy healing pots and fried chicken (on the server, you don't need food, it's got a NoLoseHunger plugin), weapon shops to buy better swords and bows, and the armor shop is where you can buy iron armor.

Your Nexus, the giant thing in the middle of your spawn, is the main part of the game. The aim is to take down the 5 towers, and then destroy the opponents' Nexus. You can, however, upgrade the Nexus by throwing rotten flesh, bones, bone meal, arrows and any old weapons into it, you can unlock a special armor shop (diamond armor and wolves), and a special weapons shop (Dia Sword Sharpness I, and a Supreme Bow)!

Now, there's a lot of things in the above picture. I'll go through them all:

Hidden Places: There are 2 secret places out in the ocean: one, I believe, contains an Aqua Helmet, and one contain a Golden Sword with a lot of enchants on it.

Buy Wolves: As stated in the above, you can buy wolves from the special armor shop and tame them with bones. Remember: don't buy a wolf unless you have 4-5 bones from skeletons in the jungle!

Jungle Buffs: Out in the wild, there are special buffs (red power, blue speed), at the small cost of having to pick off a few mobs...

Banking: The server can store items for you to take away later (ignore the signs on the wall, you can open any chest and it'll have the same items in it).

And yes, unfortunately, the map wouldn't be here without redstone. This is why the server tends to lag a lot (Sir Lags-a-lot is in town :D). However, my computer isn't too fast and I don't get that much lags, so if you have a multi-core computer you should be OK).

The aim of the game is to take down the other teams 5 towers, and then destory their Nexus. You are also put on a team of either Red or Blue. You start with a Stone Sword to kill with, so you can upgrade later.

Now, there's a debate about whether to unlock the special Armor or special Weapon shop first. In my opinion, it's the weapons shop, as you can then kill a lot faster and easier to unlock the armor shop later on.

There are 2 IPs: dota.barroncraft.com, dota2.barroncraft.com. I tend to go on the first one every once in a while, so don't forget to check it out!

Mario here with a quick update about this site!


Yes, the site reached 1,000 views, and I'd like to say thank you. So, when I have the time, I'll be putting together a whole page filled with everything you need to know about Minecraft! Such as every block, item, and biome in the game and more! I will post more videos over time, but right now I'm working on a project you may have seen me tweet about!


I'm making the Olympic Games in Minecraft. I am building it with Crazy when 1.3 comes out, and it'll hopefully be a lot of fun for you guys to play. Check out the progress by looking up 'Olympic Games' in the Project section of Planet Minecraft. Look for the one made by Mariobros980 (:D).
