Quick Update: Factions and Nearing 25,000 Website Views!

Hey guys!

Mario here with a quick update on the channel!

So, in case you didn't know, I have my own YouTube channel now, as well as the Obsidian Miners and my Call of Duty clan, EXaMPlE (links to mine, ObsidianMiners and EXaMPlE).

So anyways, I'll start off by saying the site is nearing 25000 VIEWS!!! I'm working on learning HTML code as it's not too difficult to learn, so there may be a MASSIVE site redesign at around 30-40k views.

Anyways, me, Olly and Joel were playing on a Factions server and we actually got set up pretty well (diamonds, iron, redstone, raided 5 bases etc.). So, there'll be a series on EXaMPlE pretty soon called Factions. I'll be posting the main LP on EXaMPlE, HOWEVER, I'll be posting all of our raids on my channel as well, and any bonus footage on my channel as well.

So guys, prepare for the EXaMPlE Clan and ObsidianMiners to combine to create the ultimate faction, and destroy any who oppose it...

Xbox One vs PS4 - My Opinions, Which I'll Be Getting and What It Means for YouTube!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a quick discussion about the next-gen consoles!

So, I'll probably be getting a next-gen console for Christmas, and I will buy a capture card (once I confirm the one I want is designed for next-gen), but I just wanted to point out some of the differences between the PS4 and Xbox One and what influenced me on my views.

So, I'll start with the PS4. This console was designed mostly around gaming, but has Netflix and stuff like that built into it. The company (Sony) are also trying to take some of the games that are only on the PC and transfer them onto this new console, such as PlanetSide 2 (I've been wanting that game for ages, but my computer's too bad to run it :P). I also believe that the current specs we know of are more based to give an outstanding gaming experience. It will have all the console-wide games on it as well (COD Ghosts, BF4 and ACIV).

The Xbox One is a cable box in my opinion. It is mostly designed to bring you the best possible TV experience, that also comes with gaming. To me, the Xbox One has gaming as a secondary feature, and all this new 'live TV' stuff has overtaken what the whole point of a GAMING console is all about. They don't seem to have many good Xbox-only games either. There's the console-wide games, but they're always good. I'm talking about the games that will only be available to Xbox One customers.

In case you can't tell, I'm going with the PS4 as it will provide me more gaming shtuff! I know there's a 'Share' button, but I wonder if it comes built-in with livestreaming! If it does, I might be livestreaming from my console to YouTube and Twitch (probably Twitch as it's more viewer-interactive). I'll also check if the console has YouTube uploading built-in. I won't use it, don't worry, I'm joking! I'll be getting a capture card (once I know it works with the PS4) and using that instead.

Anyways, what this means is more content! In the first 1-3 months of PS4's release, I'll be doing Ghosts and Battlefield 4 gameplay, as well as the usual Minecraft videos :D

A Final Summary of Our Content on MonsterCharity 2013!

Hi guys!

Mario here with my final post on this event!

So, I'm going to explain all that'll be happening today and tomorrow. In case you haven't already seen, MonsterCharity 2013 is an event to raise $10,000 for Child's Play Charity. To do this, they have set up a custom Minecraft launcher which you will download, log in to and connect to a server. You will be able to download the launcher HERE! On this server, we will have music set up by Monstercat with several different producers, such as Going Quantum, 7 Minutes Dead, Hellberg, Teqq and more!

So, what will be happening this weekend? There'll be TONS of content going out onto the channel, that's what!

The event begins at 11am EDT (or 3pm GMT), which gives me about 7-9 hours of recording time, which is a lot! All of the content will be coming out in seperate, shortened videos, not all in one big 6-hour long video. Before the event begins, Island of Shadows Part 2 will be uploaded (18 mins long). This will most likely be the longest video this weekend. Then, we'll get into the event and content from that.

In case you don't know, they've already posted a line-up for the event. Here's all the performers and their times of performing:

DAY 1 (Saturday 13 July)

11am EDT (3pm GMT) - Going Quantum
12:30pm EDT (4:30pm GMT) - Protostar
2:00pm EDT (6pm GMT) - 7 Minutes Dead
3:30pm EDT (7:30pm GMT) - Eminence
5:00pm EDT (9:00pm GMT) - Stephen Walking
6:30pm EDT (10:30pm GMT) - Muzzy

DAY 2 (Sunday 14 July)

11am EDT (3pm GMT) - Teqq
12:30pm EDT (4:30pm GMT) - Rogue
2:00pm EDT (6:00pm GMT) - Hellberg
3:30pm EDT (7:30pm GMT) - Direct
5:00pm EDT (9:00pm GMT) - Mr Fijiwiji
6:30pm EDT (10:30pm GMT) - Stephen Walking

We should have coverage of all of the producers apart from the last producer on Day 2 (Stephen Walking), as we'll have already covered him once. And again, here's the channels and the stuff we'll be covering:

MARIOBROS980
Day 1 of the Music
Any YouTubers I See On Day 1 (TeamCrafted, T.O.GoesIn etc.)
Bloopers from Day 1
An Overview of Day 1
The Stage/Venue for The Event

OBSIDIANMINERS
Day 2 of the Music
Any YouTubers I See On Day 2
Bloopers from Day 2
An Overview of Day 2

As far as I'm aware, me, Crazy and Kalo will be there, and we might all be able to do some of the coverage, but I will record a lot just in case.

Also, anyone that reads this, PLEASE donate, just this once!! Child's Play are a great charity and all the money goes towards children that need help. I'll be donating as much as I can, which is $25, maybe a little more. I ask you to donate EVEN JUST $2!! It all helps in the end. They've already reached $6,000, and the event hasn't even started which is insane! Remember, any amount will help.

Event #1 Coverage - MonsterCharity 2013 On ObsidianMiners and Mariobros980!

Hi guys!

Mario here with an update on my first event coverage!

So, I'm making a new series called 'Minecraft Special Events', in which, when there is an event that is pretty awesome/big (Spleef World Cup, this one etc.), I'll be doing tons of coverage on it on both the ObsidianMiners and Mariobros980 channels.

This time it's the MonsterCharity 2013 event. This is an event to raise $10,000 for Child's Play Charity, and is also a music festival. Monstercat will be providing most of the music, with Atebits working on the effects and the show, TeamCrafted (SkyDoesMinecraft, Deadlox etc.) will be there to entertain and Minecade hosting the server! If you enjoy the festival, don't forget to donate, as all funds go to charity (click here to donate). Donating a minimum of $25 total will get you a VIP perk which allows you to fly on a pretty sick hoverboard. There's a custom client, thus the hoverboard, you see.

So, what will we be covering? Well, I'll be covering some stuff on my channel, and I'll put some stuff on ObsidianMiners as well. These are listed below:

MARIOBROS980
The $25 Donator VIP Perks
A Bit of Musics (if there's no copyright)
YouTubers At The Event
MonsterCharity Custom Client Additions

OBSIDIANMINERS
Some Fun Stuff That Happens (I hear there'll be stuff like minigames etc.)
Skits From the Event/Bloopers
At the End, an Overview on What Happened

So, stay tuned this weekend (13 and 14 July), as there's gonna be a lot of content to check out!

Survival Island Part 1 is Up, More ObsidianMiners Videos Coming Soon and More!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a quick update!

So, I released Part 1 of the Survival Island, which you can watch below. However, I won't be posting any more Survival Island videos to the channel, so you'll have to click here to watch any new videos I put in the series!

Also, there'll be more videos coming to the ObsidianMiners channel real soon! The first video will be a quick update on what's been going on with some QuickSand gameplay from the Super Gaming servers. Then I'll be posting regular content to both channels! :D

My redstone tutorials will be uploaded to both channels, as well as a few other series. My Survival Island and BuxVille Survival will be on my channel, and mini-games such as Hunger Games and MCInfected will be on ObsidianMiners (that's how it'll probably work).

Hi guys!

Mario here with a new series update!

So, tomorrow is the beginning of Survival Island. This will be a series in which I attempt to do a lot of the more advanced Minecraft than for what I start with. There's a swamp right near the island, but I won't go over to it.

YOUTUBE VERY SOON...

Hi guys!

Mario here with what may be my final YouTube update!

So, I'm gonna start posting commentaries pretty soon, and I just wanted to make a rundown of everything that will be on the channel.

I will be trying to post daily videos, and there will always be a video on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (unless of computer failures, capture failures etc.). There are 2 NEW SERIES every week and a bunch more that will be scattered around the other days.

WONDER WEDNESDAY (Wednesday)
Wonder Wednesday will consist of me playing on a highly-populated Minecraft server, such as Hypixel, MCPvP etc. In the comments, you guys can leave suggestions for challenges and stuff I can do on the servers, which should make a pretty awesome Wednesday!

SUPER FRIDAY BROTHERS (Friday)
Super Friday Brothers has me playing Super Craft Brothers every Friday! You guys can set me challenges, kits and anything else to use in the comments on that series!

RedSTONE
RedSTONE is the series where I teach you how to use redstone to create different contraptions. It will start with the basic items and what they do, eventually moving on to doing timers, decision-making for adventure maps and much, much, MUCH more!

PvP Kits   NEW!
An episode of this will go out whenever I finish what I need to finish. These will show off a TON of kits you can use in your PvP maps. In the comments, you guys can leave suggestions for kits I should make, and I will make it in one of my future videos (this will also depend on the frequency of comments). All of the kits in Season 1 will go into my new PvP map that I'm still planning.

Server Xperience   REVAMPED!
Server Xperience is back! This is where I play on an awesome server that's pretty new and needs some attention to get out there! With it being Revamped, you guys can leave suggestions for servers (NOT SURVIVAL EVER, there's only one server I play on that is survival) that I should go on.

Modern Craftfare Updates   NEW!
In this series I update you on the Modern Craftfare map that I am working on. There are currently 2 gamemodes: Multiplayer TDM and Zombies, but I'm planning on making a third gamemode. This will show you all the behind-the-scenes redstone that I use, a lot of Command Block information and a bunch of other stuff.

Making Minecraft Mods   COMING SOON
This series will show you how to make your very own Minecraft mods for the latest versions of Minecraft (not snapshots). It will show you how to update your mods to newer versions, as well as how to add blocks, items, weapons, tools, armor, effects and more!

Mod Updates   COMING SOON
This series shows updates on all the mods that I'm making at the moment. These currently feature:

Armor God Mod
RPG Mod (doesn't have a proper name yet, but it's coming, and it should be cool)

I have a seperate website for mod making and map making, so you can go check that out here. I will be updating you on what is coming with mods there :D

So, that's a lot of series: what do you guys think?

Gaming Questions #1: Should There Be Minimum Specs on Games?

Hi guys!

Mario here with a start to a new series, Gaming Questions.

My question for you guys is: do you believe in there being minimum computer specs for certain games?

On one hand, there should be. Minimum specs are there so that people who do not meet those standards will not get their computers blown up. This also helps for other players, especially in Multiplayer games, as having a laggy player on your team (for example) would take away a slot that someone with 1000000 FPS could've gotten. They're there so that things that shouldn't happen shouldn't happen.

On the other hand, it's annoying for those people who ALMOST meet the requirements, and have, let's say, 1 spec just below the minimum. Because of this, the player cannot play because he had the tiniest thing wrong with his/her computer. I am currently downloading a game which does have specs, and I am in a situation where, after looking at the minimum specs, I should meet every standard except one.

So, I present to you this question! If you would like to share your answer, leave a comment down below! You can remain anonymous, so don't worry about that!

Final YouTube Update Before The First Commentary!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a final YouTube update before I begin doing commentaries!

First of all, if I ever get the option, I won't be taking up YouTube as a sort of job or anything, it's going to be a hobby. There will still be videos, but I don't want any sort of permanent YouTube license thing.

Now onto the series that I'll be making! First one to note it REDStone, a series where I go through simple Redstone contraptions and what they do. This will help those that have no clue what Redstone does or is.

Then there's the MCPvP playlist and Super Gaming playlist. The reason I won't be doing any videos on Blocktopia servers is because most of their gamemodes are:

  • Survival (we all know how much I hate survival)
  • Long drawn-out minigames (they are still fun, but it's hard to watch on a video)

There's also a bunch of other series I have planned, but I'd also like to say something to you guys in case you were thinking about beginning to do commentaries.

I was talking to some of my real-life 'friends' (not really friends anymore) about making a YouTube commentary. Their immediate reaction was 'Oh, how so gay you are, Mario (Mario isn't my real name by the way, just used it instead of my actual name :P)!'.  First of all, if the person who said this is reading this post, I'm not gay and you have offended everyone that is. Second, they were 50% right. Making a commentary requires you to talk to yourself and your viewers, but no one really thinks that viewers are actual people.

BUT, the reason I am still going to post commentaries is because they weren't all right. There are many others that post them and most of them are entertaining, funny and awesome (these real-life 'friends' don't know funny when it hits them in the face). I came home and watched a couple of YouTuber's commentaries, and realized there was nothing wrong with trying to entertain people but, not for the money, for the laughs and the fun.

Sorry about the last emotional part, just thought I'd put that out there! If the people that said that to me are reading this, I hope you one day come up with the courage to do something with your life and stop criticising people.

Well, in other words, YouTube videos coming shortly,

New 'Achievements' Page!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a website update!

So, I was thinking about all the possible achievements that could be made in games, and how none of the servers I play on have an achievements list that you can complete and earn rewards for. I can't give out rewards, but what I can do is create achievements!

The reason for this page is because I was playing The Walls on Hypixel's server today and noticed how repetitive it was. You got wood, made some base tools, mined iron, made full Iron Armor and a Sword and any other tools you may need, try to get to the diamonds in the middle when the Walls drop and then kill everyone. There wasn't really anything else to it (no offence to anyone that plays on the server, it's an amazing server!). So, I'm going to make a new ACHIEVEMENTS page, filled with a bunch of achievements you can complete on certain Minecraft servers. Some that I have plans for are:

  • Overcast Network - Project Ares
  • Overcast Network - Blitz
  • Hypixel - The Walls
  • Hypixel - QuakeCraft
  • Battle for Conwy Castle (long time no see!)
  • MCInfected (we should all know this server by now)
  • MCPvP Hunger Games
  • MCPvP Kit PvP
  • Blocktopia - Lava Survival
  • Blocktopia - TNT Wars
  • MC Halo (Server Spotlight coming soon)
  • Some ShotBow Network servers

The page will be pretty long and daunting, so I'll try and come up with a way to navigate to places quickly. Especially for Project Areas and MCPvP Hunger Games, I plan for a ton of possible achievements. I'm looking at some REALLY challenging ones to do with redstone and long Killstreaks on Project Ares, and some pretty interesting HG ones.

P.S  Stay tuned, first Modern Craftfare update commentary coming soon!

Server Spotlight: MCPVP Hunger Games!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a redo of a Server Spotlight I did a while back!

It's an MCPvP server, called the Hunger Games! However, don't be fooled by the title, it's nothing like your average Hunger Games, where you spawn in a circle, find items and kill people. It's a lot different to that!

You spawn in a non-PvP mode, and you'll have the option between over 70 classes, which is insane! There are 3 classes you can play as for free, which change every 2 weeks. The other classes cost $2.50 each, and I'll come onto donating later. You can choose any class you own, and then you will spawn as that class. The classes at time of posting are:

  • Archer - Spawns with a Bow and 10 Arrows
  • Array - Spawns with 3 Beacons which, when placed down, automatically set to Regen II, healing anyone around you
  • Assassin - The compass will point towards a target and you won't have to update it by right-clicking on it. Right-click the compass to change target.
  • Backpacker - You spawn with a Chest in your inventory which, when double-clicked on, opens 54 inventory slots for you to store stuff in.
  • Barbarian - You start the game with a level up sword, which becomes stronger when you use it!
  • Beastmaster - You start the game with 3 Wolf Eggs, 4 Bones and a 100% chance to tame a wolf with 1 bone.
  • Berserker - When you kill someone, your bloodlust gives you Strength and Confusion.
  • Boxer - Fists do almost as much damage as a Stone Sword and incoming damage is decreased slightly.
  • Burrower - Create your own panic room in an instant
  • Cannibal - Damaging someone gives you Hunger back, and gives them Hunger.
  • Chameleon - Kill a mob and collect their item (e.g. Wool for Sheep, Zombie Flesh for Zombie, Raw Pork for Pig etc), and then hold the item to look like that mob!
  • Chemist - Start the game with one Instant Damage II, Poison II and Weakness II splash potions
  • Cookie Monster - Use your cookies to heal up, restore hunger or receive a Speed effect.
  • Crafter - You start the game with a Nether Star and Blaze Powder. Right-clicking on the Nether Star gives you the Crafting Table menu, and right-clicking on the Blaze Powder gives you the Furnace menu.
  • Cultivator - Wheat and Saplings grow instantly when planted.
  • Demoman - Stone Pressure Plate on top of a block of Gravel creates a Land Mine.
  • Digger - You start the game with 6 Dragon Eggs which, when placed, create a 5x5x5 hole in the ground.
  • Doctor - Diagnose players to remove all of their buffs and debuffs!
  • Dwarf - Hold down shift to charge up your fury, release it and knock anyone within a radius of you away.
  • Endermage - Starts with an End Portal which, when placed, teleports players that are directly above or beneath you up/down to you.
  • Explorer - Start with a Map which will show you where there are supplies, where SOME enemies are and more!
  • Fireman - You are immune to lightning and fire damage and you start the game with a Water Bucket.
  • Fisherman - You start the game with a Fishing Rod.
  • Flash - Instantly teleports you to the location you're looking at.
  • Fletcher - Gravel always drops 1 flint and Chickens always drop 2 feathers.
  • Forger - Forge ingots by combining coal and ores in your inventory
  • Frosty - Throwing a snowball at water turns it to ice and blocks into snow, and you get Speed II if you are on snow.
  • Gambler - You start with a Button. Place it anywhere and hit it to take a gamble. Will the button help you, or hurt you?
  • Ghost - You can click on your Ghost Tear to leave your body behind, you get Speed II, Jump Boost II and Night Vision when in Ghost Mode and you wear full White Leather Armor in Ghost Mode.
  • Grandpa - You start the game with a Knockback II Stick.
  • Gravedigger - Players you kill drop their items into their coffin (a Chest).
  • Hades - You can tame hostile mobs by right-clicking on them with your Iron Ingot (Note: must be the Iron Ingot you spawned with, it won't work with another ingot). Create a mob army!
  • Hermit - When the game starts, you are teleported close to the border of the map.
  • Hunter - Killing pigs always yields 2 Cooked Porkchops.
  • Jackhammer - Break a block and see the blocks break above it as well!
  • Jumper - Start the game with 5 Ender Pearls which do no damage and you will have a secure landing.
  • Kangaroo - Start with Boots that enable you to double-jump!
  • Kaya - You start the game with 16 Grass Blocks, which act as a false block, and when someone steps on them, they disappear!
  • Launcher - Start with Sponges that launch you and other players away!
  • Lumberjack - You start with an enchanted Wooden Axe. Chopping to bottom log of a tree will make the whole tree fall down!
  • Madman - Players within a 20 block radius of you gradually get weaker overtime.
  • Milkman - Drinking your Milk gives you Regen I, Speed I and Fire Resistance I, but you will automatically say in chat to anyone nearby 'I am the milkman, my milk is delicious!'.
  • Miner - Start with a Pickaxe. Eat an apple while on full Hunger to get a Haste effect (faster mining).
  • Monster - Monsters don't attack you unless you attack them first.
  • Necro - Skeletons are killed in 1 hit and always drop 2 Bones.
  • Phantom - Use a Feather on the ground to get a temporary flight ability (if you choose this class, a warning will be displayed in chat saying that you aren't fly-hacking).
  • Pickpocket - You can open other player's inventory and steal their items!
  • Poseidon - You get Strength I and Speed II whilst in water, and you cannot drown while you are moving.
  • Pyro - You start the game with 5 Fire Charges and a Flint & Steel.
  • Reaper - When you hit players with your Death Scythe, they get a Wither I effect for around 5 seconds.
  • Rider - Ride almost any passive mob in the game.
  • Salvager - Place down your Anvil and right-click on it with your tools and armor to receive the materials back (e.g. if you right-click on an Anvil with a Diamond Chestplate, you would get 8 Diamonds back).
  • Santa - Every minute you receive a present (Colored Wool) that you can give to players with that kit, and they get their starting items back (e.g. if you got a present for Spiderman and a Spiderman opens it, they get their snowballs back).
  • Scout - You start with 2 Speed Potions that regenerate overtime.
  • Seeker - You can turn a large area of blocks into glass, great for seeking ores.
  • Snail - Do damage to others and you have a 1 in 3 chance to give them a Slowness II effect.
  • Spiderman - Throw snowballs to create Spider Webs to trap enemies in!
  • Spy - Your compass gives you the EXACT coords of a player and you are alerted when enemies are nearby.
  • Stomper - No matter what height you fall from, you'll take 2 hearts of fall damage. If you fall on top of a player, you push whatever fall damage you usually would've gotten onto them.
  • Summoner - Throw an egg at a mob to capture it and then throw down the Spawn Egg to release it.
  • Surprise - Get a completely random kit out of any of the kits, even ones you don't own!
  • Tarzan - Holding your vines will grow vines all around you.
  • Thor - Call down lightning onto players with your Wooden Axe.
  • Timelord - Right-click your watch to freeze time around you, trapping your enemies.
  • Turtle - Crouch to take minimal damage, but you cannot attack while crouched.
  • Urgal - Start the game with 3 Strength I pots.
  • Vampire - Kill players to get health back, and heal from Instant Damage potions (Note: you take damage from Instant Health potions).
  • Viper - For every hit you do to a player there's a chance they will get a Poison effect.
  • Warder - Place a long protective wall that gives players that run through it Speed I for 5 seconds and Protection I for 30 seconds.
  • Werewolf - Get a Strength and Speed boost at night, and a Weakness effect during the day.

Well, that's all the classes at time of posting, with more being added soon! When the game begins, you'll spawn as your corresponding class and you'll be in a normal Survival world with 50-100 other players. Start by getting some base weapons and tools together and then go mining for iron. Mining Diamond Ore does NOT drop Diamonds, and the only way to get diamonds is from NPC Villages (Blacksmith) or to use the Salvager class and turn a Diamond Sword/Armor into Diamonds again.

After 2 minutes of invincibility, the killing begins! Will you be the hunter or be the hunted? Some classes are Support roles, some are Defensive PvP roles and others are Aggressive PvP roles (I'll do some kit videos soon and that'll categorize them). Support classes, such as Cultivator or Fletcher, provide the team with good gear in order for them to fight off enemies. Defensive PvP roles, such as Berserker or Turtle, allow players to fight yet not get a massive PvP boost. Aggressive PvP roles, such as Urgal or Viper, allow you to go all in, 'souping' away whilst killing enemies.

Now, onto the Souping System! One of the most unique parts of the MCPvP servers is that Mushroom Soup has been recoded. Slurping your soup will heal hearts, and once you're at full health it heals hunger. This means that players have invented the art of Souping. This is where you go into a PvP fight, and slurp soup in order to heal whilst in the fight. One technique known as 'Quickdropping' is where the player quickly drinks a bowl of Soup, throws the empty Bowl on the ground and then grab out your Sword and continue PvPing. This requires fast fingers!

After a while, the coordinates of the Feast will be announced! The Feast provides high-tier equipment for the player that they couldn't get anywhere else, like Diamond Gear, Potions, Presents and Enchantment Tables. Getting to the Feast first can give you a major advantage over your opponents!

There will sometimes be Mini-Feasts, where there isn't as much provided, but there is still some good gear there, like food and weapons.

Well, that's about it for this server, unless you like hearing THE LAST GUY STANDING WINS!! Thanks for reading, videos will be coming REAL soon (I just need some time to put one together now, I have the video recording software now :D).

MEGA ANNOUNCEMENT: Obsidian Gaming Website, A Few Tweaks and More!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a MEGA ANNOUNCEMENT!!! :D

So, I realized that I was putting a lot of minigame and modding content on this site, but I intended this site to spotlight awesome servers and give YouTube updates. So, I thought about it, and I've decided to launch a new website:

OBSIDIAN GAMING

Obsidian Gaming will be a website where I post all of my Minecraft minigame, modding and texture packing (whatever you call it) updates. This site WILL STILL BE HERE, this will just contain Server Spotlights, YouTube Updates and all of the stuff it already had, just not with the minigame and modding content.

This will probably be released TOMORROW (April 26th), the day I promised for the Modern Craftfare Map Names! The names will now be posted on the Obsidian Gaming site, so check there, not here!

There's also a couple of tweaks and changes I'd like to talk about:

VIDEOS COMING SUPER-SOON!
I get my money in 5 DAYS TIME (finally, for the love of waffles). I will be buying the Black Ops 2 Camos and Uprising DLC, but I will finally buy the Screencast-o-Matic Premium for a year! This means commentaries, better-quality videos, a video every day, new series, Server Xperiences, longer videos, edited videos and a ton more! I'm also gonna do a bit of 'life saving' to try and get an awesomenaut computer, so faster video quality!

'HUB' PAGE ON OBSIDIAN COMMUNITY WEBSITES!
There will now be a page on every website entitled 'HUB'. Here, you can access all of the Obsidian websites, including Obsidian Gaming, The Minecraftia, Call of Duty with Mario and any other websites I have released! This means obsidi-hopping! :D

MODERN CRAFTFARE UPDATE!
When the website is released tomorrow, all of the first 12 Modern Craftfare Multiplayer maps and the 3 Zombies maps names will be released (not the actual maps). There has, however, been a massive change to the Multiplayer maps. I'm going to make this bigger, so that you can treat the map like a MC Call of Duty game. I'm adding EVERY MAP INTO ONE WORLD!! This means you can download one world, and all of the maps will be implemented on that world. The reason for this is that I can then add stuff like:

  • Leveling Systems - Experience and levels could be added, I would add it so you got 100 XP for every kill. Once you get enough XP (300 needed for Level 2, and it increases with every level up to 55), you will level up, which then leads to:
  • Unlockable Weapons - There's a system with Command Blocks I can use which allows me to test to see if the player has unlocked a certain weapon. If they haven't it will display what Level you need to be to unlock it. If you HAVE unlocked it, you can use it as normal.
  • Unlockable Scorestreaks - I can make it so Scorestreaks will only activate if you are a certain level, you'll start with the 3 lowest Scorestreaks and the Nuke (accessible always, a Scorestreak you must earn) and then you will unlock more.
  • PRESTIGING - Once you hit Level 55 and reach a set amount of XP, you can prestige! This resets your level back to Level 1 and you need to re-unlock every weapon and Scorestreak again. However, there are a few perks you can get. You will get an option of a few perks, which are not yet decided on.

The reason I changed this is because I wanted to implement the above features, but I couldn't if every map was seperate as you would be playing the same map a million times before you could prestige. I will release seperate versions with DLC maps (4 maps in 4 packs, 16 in total) at a later date.

Quick Update: Learning Mod Creation Has Begun!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a quick update on modding!

I've been wanting to make a mod for a while now. If you've seen mods like Divine RPG, you'll know what kind of mod: a mod that comes with new mobs, dimensions, items, weapons, armor, tools, magic and more! However, there was one problem: I had no idea on how to make a mod. However, I'm planning to look on YouTube to see if there's some base tutorials for Java coding, and it turns out there is! I'm currently getting set up to make a bit of a test mod, but if I manage it, I will maybe be able to release the RPG mod that I've been planning on!

If the test mod somehow works, it will be called the Armor God Mod, and it will include a ton of armor sets that can buff you in certain ways. Some, like the Dirt Armor I'm planning, simply give you a tiny little bit of protection, where as some, like the Water Armor or the Lava Armor, will allow you to swim in lava and breathe underwater. I'll provide a full list if I ever get it done!

So, the current to-do list is:

- Work on Modern Craftfare some more
- Finish MineMine (new minigame)
- Try and produce the Armor God Mod

Server Spotlight: Wasted!

Hi guys!

Mario here with another Server Spotlight!

This time it's the Wasted server on the ShotBow Network. First, the ShotBow Network are the people that invented minigames such as MineZ, Last Man Standing and Death by Void. And also, this IS NOT a server where you get drunk and walk around weirdly, so clear those thoughts!

Wasted is a Minecraft attempt at the Arma II Wasteland mod. This server brings guns, vehicles and objectives into Minecraft! You start at the spawn, and you are faced with two choices - either role out solo as an Independent assassin, and work for yourself, or join one of the four colorful teams! There are 5 teams total, listed below:

  • Independents - the Independents are against EVERYONE (even other Independents) and can only use a Random Spawn. They must quickly loot chests and kill as many people as possible. This is the way you should play if you're a kind of guy who likes to bombard enemies with bullets and not a very strategic player. Also note that the Independents are usually the highest on the Kills leaderboard.
  • Nightmare - Nightmare is one of the more popular teams, and usually finish first excluding the Independents. They are some of the most strategic players, meaning if you try to escape with their Cars and Storage Trucks, they will kill you (despite there being a limited Friendly-Fire).
  • Initiative 1 - Initiative 1 are the 3rd best team and are pretty well organized and strategic players, and the cars I escape in usually get blown up on this team. A lot of the high-tier cities are owned by Initiative 1.
  • Team Cobra - Team Cobra are one of the lower teams, and are great for newbies who need some practice without being instantly bombarded by enemies. Pretty good team, but you'll probably be running alone if you're trying to get the hi-tech weapons from the drop zones.
  • Power Rangers - The Power Rangers are similar to Team Cobra, and this is probably the best team to join if you're new to the server. Not too many gunfights combined with a decent amount of supplies makes this a pretty fair team. However, you'll almost definitely be rolling solo if you're going for the objective or drop zones.

There are 'cities' scattered around the 6,000 x 6,000 block map, which contain guns, ammunition and sometimes, if you're lucky, NPCs (usually PauseUnpause) that act as shops where you can buy LOTS of items that you can't get from loot chests. Listed below are most (not all) of the weapons:

  • MP5 - Uses 9mm ammo
  • UMP45 - Uses .45 ACP ammo
  • M4 - Uses 5.56x45 NATO ammo
  • AK47 - 7.62x39 ammo
  • M16A3 - uses 5.56x45 NATO ammo
  • M240 - 7.62x51 NATO ammo
  • SCAR-H - 7.62x51 NATO ammo
  • Remington 870 - 12ga Buckshot ammo
  • AA-12 - 12ga Buckshot ammo
  • P30 - 9mm ammo
  • SW1911 - .45 ACP ammo
  • M249 - 5.56x45 NATO ammo
  • Rocket Launcher - Uses Rockets as ammo
  • M79 Grenade Launcher - Uses HE Grenades as ammo
  • Mosin Nagant - 7.62x54R

There's a couple more weapons which you can collect from places called 'Drop Zones'. These contain the high-tier weaponry and need to be held down by a team. Whichever team controls the Drop Zone when the items fall will be able to collect the items. These are usually stuff like Launchers and OP Weapons.

There are vehicles on this server. There are 2 main kinds and then there's a Battle Mech, but I'm not quite sure how the Battle Mech works yet. The 2 kinds of vehicles that you'll be coming across often are the Car and the Storage Truck. The Car is a pig, and mounting it will give it your nametag. If you left click on it whilst not on it, you will see there are 9 slots of Storage Space for you. You must hold the Steering Wheel in order to drive the pig, and it's simple controls after that. Pigs will only drive well if you're on a road, or Stone Bricks. Going on the grass will slow the car down A LOT!
Storage Trucks have 18 slots of Storage Space, but they move a little slower than cars, making it ideal for long-living players who need to store a ton of ammo and weapons in their car.

The Final Objective is similar to a Drop Zone, except it's a little different. A team player must hold onto a diamond and, whoever has the diamond at the end, wins the game. A pretty cool minigame if you ask me! :)

Quick Update: MiniGames Page and KickStarter To Donate To (Not Mine :P)!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a quick yet important update!

First of all, I've just set up my MiniGames page on this website. There, you can see all of my minigame ideas PLUS any download links to the finished ones. You can click 'MC Minigames' at the top, underneath the title!

Now, this is the more important part. A YouTuber that recently hit 1 million subscribers, ChimneySwift11 (you probably know him) just launched a KickStarter project. He wants to raise $100,000 (it may seem a lot, but it's worth it for what he's going to do) in order to make a live-action series starring himself, other YouTubers and any donators that donate $10,000+. But, because he is using the KickStarter website, you can get rewards for donating. Some of the rewards include a CD with the series on, Backers-Only updates, a 1-hour Minecraft session with Chim, a 1-to-1 recording session with Chim, Posters, a prop from the stage signed by Chim after it's been used and, if you donate the top amount of $10,000, you get to go and stay at the set for 2 days, have lunch with Chim, your name in the starting credits of the series and a Director's chair with your name on it (Note: doesn't include travel and lodging).
This isn't my project, but it'd make Chim's day if he could reach the $100,000 target and make the series, so please go donate here, he deserves it for all his hard work (over 2,000 videos in 2 years)! :)

My Thoughts on the Way Minecraft Servers Have Changed!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a few quick thoughts on a subject!

So, this is about how Minecraft servers have and haven't changed over the few years the game has been out!

At first, I believe that the top Minecraft servers were the survival ones, where you just survived like in normal Minecraft. Then Factions and PvP elements were added to the Multiplayer servers, and people were griefed, killed and trolled before they could even begin building a house (Minecraft Stories #2 coming soon, folks!).

Then, the first Hunger Games map was made, and everyone loved it. Survival Games and Hunger Games servers began to take over and become more popular on voting websites, and everyone, even a lot to this day, find it a fun mini-game.

Then there were TONS of mini-game servers released: Prison Servers, Paintball Servers, Call of Duty servers, Nazi Zombies servers, Infected servers, CTF Servers, Organized PvP Arena Servers and Mob Arena Servers to name a few. In my opinion, this is the direction a lot of the servers should be taking. Mini-games are fun and a change from the original Survival and Creative Minecraft, despite these still being as awesome as they were. Sure, there are still some survival servers that are awesome, which are (in my opinion) the ones where you have the OPTION to choose PvP or Mobs on. You don't HAVE to have that element, it's there for those who want it (next Server Spotlight includes one of these servers).

I honestly like mini-game servers better than any server. Yes, I do play survival or survival servers every so often, especially the one in the next Server Spotlight now, but the mini-games listed above are almost all of the ones I have on my server list, and a few more. I'm not saying survival servers should just shut down and stop altogther, I'm just suggesting that there should be more of an option to how you play. If you don't wanna play with PvP on, then you shouldn't have to! If you don't want mobs griefing and killing you, you shouldn't be forced to play with that!

I'm currently working on two new mini-games which I would like to see turn into something new, especially the second one. One is called MineMine, and the second one called Craft Tower Defense. If you've never played a Tower Defense before, search for 'BTD5' as this is probably the best one I've found. I want to make something like this into Minecraft, with upgradable turrets, different types of monsters and more! Even if MineMine, the one I'm currently working on alongside Modern Craftfare (these won't go away, these will always be worked on until they are finished) managed to get some attention that would be great as I really want to promote mini-games and show how good they can be if people worked on them!

Modern Craftfare Update #3: First Multiplayer and Zombies Map Names Are Ready! (Includes Minecraftia ALPHA Info)

Hi guys!

Mario here with the third update on Modern Craftfare!

So, I know there's been a lot of these posts lately, but there's an awesome Server Spotlight coming up after this post! Anyways, on with the news!

I've begun to come up with names for the Multiplayer and Zombies maps! At the time of posting, I have 6/12 Multiplayer map names and 1/3 Zombies map names, which is pretty decent as that's pretty much halfway! I'm currently struggling to do Weapon Testing (testing a weapon in the actual game, and then trying to make it similar in the Minecraft version). I achieve the different fire rates with different levels of Haste (Note: high fire-rate weapons will probably be nerfed a little, especially the Skorpion EVO, which has high damage AND fire rate in the actual game, and there's no way to change Range, and Accuracy depends on your sensitivity).

The release date for the names will be in a week's time, or April 21st. This will include all of the 12 Multiplayer maps and 3 Zombies maps that you will start off with (not including any Bonus Packs). To see what the names are on this day, click the 'Modern Craftfare [COMING SOON]' tab below the title.

Speaking of titles and designs, the Minecraftia ALPHA is still in progress. The next release version will be coming tomorrow, April 15th, which will be 'The Minecraftia ALPHA v2'! On the same day as the name releases for the Modern Craftfare maps (April 21st) I'll release a code which you will be able to use on a page entitled 'Access to Alpha!', and if you enter the e-mail you used for your Blogger account (we don't need your password, just the e-mail, as this is what we must type in to give you access) and the code (case sensitive). That's it, and if you're one of the first people to enter the code, you'll get access. If you don't get in, we will NOT keep your Blogger account e-mail, we will delete the Document on Google Docs that we use and all the results will be gone!

So, there's the news! Tomorrow is Alpha v2, and April 21st is the Modern Craftfare map name releases! There will also be videos going out showing my progress on the maps).

Modern Craftfare Update #2: Progress So Far!

Hi guys!

Mario here with an update on the Modern Craftfare project!

CAMPAIGN
Campaign has been barely started yet, and will probably be released a little after the Multiplayer and Zombies, but I have managed to work with one thing, and that's how unlocking stages works. Basically, at the end of each stage, you will be given a lever. You must place that lever on the Gold Block of the next level and then activate it. If you do not have a lever there, you will not be allowed into the level.

MULTIPLAYER
Multiplayer has been currently worked on the most, and I have finished most of the main redstone. There's a Killstreak system, a TDM total kill limit and 2 different teams which each have a color to represent them as well as Friendly Fire being off. If you're wondering how the Multiplayer will work, this is how:

  • On the launch day of Modern Craftfare (unannounced currently) 12 Mutliplayer maps and 3 Zombies maps will be released, alongside Campaign (if it's finished by then).
  • After that I will launch 4 map packs (don't be fooled by the name, they will all be free) which will each contain 3 new Multiplayer maps and a Zombies map. There will be at least a 1 month gap, and I will release the maps as soon as they are done.
  • With the FINAL map pack, there will still be 3 new Multiplayer maps and a Zombies map, but I will roll all of the Multiplayer maps into one map so that you can play them all on one map. This will be the final release of Modern Craftfare Multiplayer.

ZOMBIES
Finished the redstone for the Perk Machines, Doors and Wall Guns. I have yet to do the Mystery Box, the Pack-a-Punch and the Zombie spawning, but I already have the Zombie spawning figured out (it'll probably be zombies that spawn with a Leather Tunic and Resistance using MCEdit Spawners). The current perks that I have are:
  • Reviva-Cola (gives you Regeneration I, I'll probably do buffed and nerfed versions in future maps)
  • Juggernaut Juice (gives you Resistance I)
  • Speed Soda (gives you Swiftness I)
  • Hasty H2O (gives you Haste I, means you can spam-click more!)
  • Electric Espresso (gives your armor Thorns I, damages Zombies that touch you)
  • Strength Shake (gives you Strength I, you do more damage)
  • Fizzy Feather (gives you boots with Feather Falling IV, great for those maps with big heights)
  • Aqua (gives you a Respiration I, Aqua Affinity I Helmet, basically gives you a lot more skills underwater)
  • Flaming Cocktail (gives you Fire Resistance II potion effect, makes you take no fire damage)

Not all of the perks will be implemented in all of the maps, but some of them will come in useful for different maps, as I plan on having maps with different elements...

The first three maps will be general names for places (similar to Town and Farm from BO2 Zombies), and then you will start moving on to more complex and element-related maps (I already have 2 of the Zombies DLC maps planned...).

Anyways, that's it for now, I'll probably be posting a ton of these as I'm excited to see what I can do with redstone and the Modern Craftfare project!

YouTube Series Coming Soon...

Hi guys!

Mario here with an update on YouTube!

First thing you're gonna need to know for what's coming is that I'm British. I already mentioned this a few times, but it's just there in case you thought I was from another country!

Ok, so now onto the new series that I'll be starting, which are listed below:

  • CTM Map Playthrough - I changed my mind about doing a Vechs map because everyone does them, so I might play through one that doesn't get as much attention. #
  • Redstone - This is a series where I run through everything you'll need to know about Redstone (Season 1 will be just the basics, such as what each individual piece of redstone does, simple contraptions etc.)
  • Modern Craftfare Updates - How I'm getting on with the Modern Craftfare project (Note: Modern Craftfare won't be maps copied from games, they'll be on the same page, but I'll be making different maps with the same weapons from the games that you know).

Now, I'm sorry to say but there's been a delay again (you guys are probably getting sick of all these delays, but after this everything will get sorted). I won't be able to get the recording software until around April 26th. This means none of the series above will begin until then, but there will still be videos coming out.

New Blocktopia Server: Premium TNT!

Hi guys!

Mario here with another Blocktopia update!

The Blocktopia staff recently announced that there will be a new server coming out named Premium TNT. This is named after a Classic server called TNT Wars, in which you threw TNT at people and tried to kill them. There were different types of TNT that you could spend points on, like C4, Land Mines and more! However, the popularity has dramatically decreased, and they can no longer afford to keep it running. So, they took the idea, and made Premium TNT!

There's no confirmed launch date, but it shouldn't be too long now!

Project Modern Craftfare!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a brand new project I'll be working on!

This is called Modern Craftfare, which is basically an extra part to my MC Nazi Zombies project. I'm going to (hopefully) make three different gamemodes: Campaign (pretty much like an adventure map, with knives, guns and warfare), Multiplayer (taking a Call of Duty/FPS map and making it into Minecraft, which you can play with no plugins or mods) and Zombies (endless waves of zombies that you must kill to earn points, buy items and survive). Some of this I won't be able to post on the Minecraft Forum or Planet Minecraft, as the copyright is very intense, despite me not going to be copying much (taking a few Redstone tutorials from PixelPredators for the Zombies maps and a Command Block tutorial to show how 'testfor', 'teams' and 'objectives' work).

I won't be copying anyone's work, if I build an already-built map it will be built by me and I will also build small DLC maps until I get better at building, then I'll make some better maps. I'll explain below how each one works:

CAMPAIGN
Pretty simple: you run through several levels of a storyline, using different weapons and defeating enemies. There may be challenges you can complete, and you will have to do it in level order (e.g. you start at Level 1, you may not choose to start at Level 5 unless you have unlocked that stage).

MULTIPLAYER
Designed for either big parties of people or for use on Multiplayer Minecraft servers. There will be Command Blocks setting up teams and making it so friendly fire is off, each team member has a colored nametag etc. It will be designed for up to 12 players, with 6 v 6 games of Team Deathmatch or Domination (these will have to be seperate maps, I'm not so good at redstone that I can put both into one map). There will be a new page on the site entitled 'Modern Craftfare' where I will post the Multiplayer and Zombies maps. I will post any Campaign maps I do on Planet Minecraft, and then put a link for the page on this website.

ZOMBIES
This has got nothing to do with ZombieCraft. Zombies is a gamemode where zombies will endlessly spawn, and you must kill them in order to earn Points. Points are used as a currency and you can buy perks, guns, random weapons, an upgrade for your weapons and more! You may also have to find a power switch, or none of the Perk Machines or Pack-a-Punch machine will work!

This will be coming as soon as the second Black Ops 2 DLC (Uprising) is released, on April 16th (Note: it may be May 16th due to the fact that I have a PS3). I could begin work on the Campaign. I will make videos on my own channel (now called NeonZonkles, which is my favorite random word) showing progress that I make and more content, like MCPvP Hunger Games and some Dwarves v Zombies gameplay.

Computer Problems and Video Making!

Hi guys!

Mario here with a quick update!

So, the other day my computer was infected with a virus. Don't worry, they've both been deleted, but it keeps closing all of my programs. This is the reason my first commentary hasn't gone out yet. First of all, I need to wait to get the money in order to buy Screencast-o-Matic Premium (let's hope the video quality is a lot better) and then what video I'm going to post (first one will be 16-30 mins long, in order to test the upload time of longer videos, and then we will begin uploading proper videos).

I've also figured that once you get to know redstone a little better, it can be so easy! I need a lot of redstone for my Nazi Zombies maps, so I've been watching Kyle's videos (check them out here) to get a tutorial on the redstone, and once you've followed along with the tutorial once, you can do them on your own!

Anyways, I'll be making a new 'Redstone', showing simple AND complex tutorials on redstone, but not too hard, otherwise it may get kinda crazy! So, new series, first commentary soon, lots to look forward to!
