Game Review #2: PlanetSide 2!

Hi guys!

Mario here with my second Game Review!

This time, it's an FPS (first-person shooter). This one's called PlanetSide 2, and has been published by SOE (Sony Online Entertainment). This FPS is set in space, and is a sort of King of the Hill-style game. This is first-person shooter, MMO style!

QUICK NOTICE: Do NOT download this game if your computer is too slow to handle it. My computer should handle it around 20-30 frames with 2 cores and the graphics card NVidia GeForce  7025, which could run Team Fortress 2 at a decent 22 frames.

When you first create your character, you'll have to make a choice: which one of the three empires will you join? There's the Terran Republic, the Vanu Sovereignty (Vaa-noo-sov-run-tee) and the New Conglomerate. Each empire has different colours: TR has red, VS is purple and NC have blue. Choose wisely, as this is your final choice (Note: you can make more than one character in the game, so you can try out all three empires). Then, you can sort out your online name.

The aim of the game is to capture three continents, full of bases and other players trying to hunt you down and kill you. Since this is a first-person shooter, there ARE other people. Here's the 6 classes you can play:

  • Combat Medic
  • Light Assault
  • Heavy Assault
  • Engineer
  • MAX
  • Infiltrator

You may have to play around for a bit to figure out your favorite class, but it's best to play all six.

You can also create vehicles to travel around in! Tanks, trucks and helicopters are the types of vehicle you may gather. There is also a vehicle designed to carry multiple soldiers onto the battlefield. You can also deploy yourself into a location, but bare in mind you are visible whilst doing so. An example of a New Conglomerate vehicle, the Galaxy:

The graphics are very high to my awareness, as I haven't finished the download of this game yet (around 130MB away).

Anyways, if you guys want to see more, I might post some stuff on YouTube or do livestreams, as I hear you can livestream from in-game!
