Server Spotlight: Battle for Conwy Castle REDO!

THIS IS A REDO OF THE BATTLE FOR CONWY CASTLE CTF SERVER!!!

Hi guys,

Mario here with another Server Spotlight!

I'm reviewing this server for a lot of reasons: nearly all of the plugins are custom-coded, and that takes a lot of work. And the main reason is because, there are still 5000+ players currently, but this server needs MORE! It is a great server...in fact, great is nowhere near enough. I guarantee that if you join, you will have more fun than on any Capture the Flag server out there.

CLASSES
There are two current classes, but if any of the developers are reading this, scroll to the bottom and I'll give you quite a few ideas on some more classes, ideas for the server etc.

Swordsman: Iron Sword, 4 Ladder, 64 Steak
Archer: Bow (Infinity I, Power I), Wooden Sword, 1 Arrow, 4 Ladder, 64 Steak

These are the only two classes in the game so far, but at the end I'm gonna post quite a few new classes that I suggest to be added to the game. If you vote for the server on Minestatus, your Iron and Wood Sword get enchanted with Sharpness I.

GAMEPLAY

INTRO
You start in your team's spawn. There are two teams: red, the attackers, and blue, the defenders. The blue team spawn in the castle, the red team spawn out (see 'Mines of Moria' for a different kind of gameplay). Blues have to stop the reds from getting into the castle, whilst the reds have to push the blues back.

FUNCTIONS
There are drawbridges, catapults and gates on this server! And they function normally as well, this plugin IS custom-coded. Drawbridges activate via lever, and they are mostly made of Oak Wood Planks. Once the lever is flicked, the drawbridge will fall down, allowing anyone in or out of the castle. If flicked again, the drawbridge will close again. Gates also activate via lever. When flicked, the gate will open, making the sound the same as when you hit an Iron Golem. Then, if you flick it again, the gate closes again. Catapults are a little hard to maneuver. Step on one of the pressure plates (I have no clue what any of them aim) and then flick the lever located on the left-hand side of the catapult. This fires a block of cobblestone, that acts the same as TNT when fired. It can blow holes in the castle wall, by the way...

CAPTURING
Capturing a flag is decently easy. There are flags all over the place, mostly inside the castle. To capture one, go inside the castle and go up one of the towers. Climb onto the top and stand inside the wooden radius. Slowly, your opponent's flag will come down. You must stay in the wooden radius or else it will stop coming down. Once the flag is nearest the ground, it will turn grey and black. In the chat it will say '~~~[Tower name] has been neutralized~~~'. Stay on there for a little long and it'll say you've captured that tower! But it's not done yet. You have to stay there for quite a lot longer to raise your own flag as high as possible. But remember: all the time you're there, there is live PvP, and there's nothing stopping anyone coming up the same tower and slaying you while your capturing.

PVP
Now, the reason I wanted to talk about PvP tips is simply because: there are some world-class PvPers on this server...I have almost 1000 kills and have over 500 deaths, which is a lot. But the current top player has over 12,000 kills and over 3,000 deaths. People such as valden6
and thevegita730 have been top player, and they will pretty much kill you even if you are very good at PvP. I am ranked about 120th out of 5000+ players, which is, (English accent) if I do say so myself (English accent stops), very good.

SERVER TIPS
1. If you climb up a tower to capture a flag, CUT DOWN THE LADDERS and CLOSE THE TRAPDOOR! That way, when you hear the trapdoor opening, you know someone has come up.
2. Try and get a Swordsman AND an Archer up one tower. That way, the Archer can be on alert for others in other towers, whilst the Swordsman can do all the melee.
3. If you're an Archer up in a tower, snipe enemies trying to capture your towers. It makes them confused for a second, and they have to look around every tower to find who is doing it. You can get a good 2 hits if you're a great Archer.
4. Vote...'nuff said. The enchanted sword pretty much makes PvP a BLAST (boom...). The enchanted Iron Sword does 5-hit kills for other Swordsman, and 3-4 hit kills on Archers.
MORE SOON!!!

MINES OF MORIA
The Mines of Moria is a little different. No-one is attacking or defending, both are just capturing and killing. There are a couple of different flags and it is the only map where you are inside something. This is a very unique map.

IDEAS FOR SERVER
SERVER DEVS: If you read this, then I know there'll be a ton of coding, I KNOW! Please don't be mad because of this :)
Now, for my ideas with classes:

Ninja: Ninja should have a Golden Sword of Unbreaking IV (voting adds Sharpness I) and no armor. They should also have an Ink Sac, which when held makes the player invisible (maybe put a time cap on the invisibility?). And then 4 ladders and 64 Steak.
Medic: This would be good for healing. Medics should get a Stone Sword (voting adds Sharpness I) and Golden Armor. Then some Splash Potions of Healing and Regeneration. 4 ladders and 64 steak wraps it up.
Mage: Mage has a Stone Sword of Knockback I and Golden Armor (all Protection I or II). He has 8 ender pearls, and a few Splash Potions of Damage, Weakness, Slowness and Poison. The mage is pretty much all about magic, so 4 ladders and 64 golden apples (the one that isn't glowing) instead of Steak.
Scout: The Scout should have a Stone Sword (voting adds Sharpness I) and Leather Armor. He should also have a constant Speed II potion effect. 4 ladders and 64 Steak.
Pyro: Pyro should have a Wooden Sword (voting adds Sharpness I) and Chain Armor. 32 TNT and a Flint and Steel also...what's a Pyro without explosives? The only problem with this class is that placing TNT would have to be enabled. 4 ladders and 64 Steak again.
Necro: For this one, you'd have to code mobs to not burn in the daylight. A Stone Sword (voting adds Sharpness I) and Leather Armor. Then, 10 Spawn Skeleton eggs and 10 Spawn Zombie eggs. 4 ladders and 64 Steak FTW!!!
Blaze: Blazes have a Wooden Sword with Fire Aspect I and Chain Armor (all with Fire Protection II). They have Flint and Steel, 32 Fire Charges and some Potions of Fire Resistance (not Splash). 4 ladders and 64 Steakz!
Demoman: Demomen would have 64 TNT, 1 flint and steel, and perhaps some kind of coded-in grenades. Also has Chain Armor with Blast Protection IV. 4 ladders and 64 Steaky!

GLITCHES I/OTHERS GET
  • When I leave the server and try to come back on: 'Internal server error'
GAMEMODES

Perhaps some more gamemodes, like Team Deathmatch (first team to 200/500/1000 kills wins). But please, if you do add more gamemodes, keep it Team vs Team, it's fun to have to work together in order to win.


These are all the classes I've come up with FOR NOW! I will update this if I think of any more. I would love to see all of these added, especially Medic, because there is currently no way to instant heal. Mage and Ninja as well, because then there'd be more of a challenge.

And developers of the server, I won't rage at you if you don't use my ideas, I will still play on the server no matter if you add these features or not :D
